Music was the constant voice inside Noël Coward's head.
He thought of melodies and lyrics in the back of taxis on the way to the theatre, before dinner, after dinner, walking across a beach and in the heat of a jungle foray while entertaining troops in the Far East. No music scholar himself, he relied on the help of an amanuensis or two and noted arrangers and to capture his melodies and create piano and orchestral accompaniments.
A comprehensive index of his musical work can be found on the Noël Coward Society website in the Noël Coward Music Index.
